The Start:

Full information will be given at the riders briefing that takes place at 11.30am on the morning of the race, but basically all paddlers will be asked to enter the water 10 mins before the start of the race (12.15 for Tourers, 12.25 for 12’6″ and Unlimited) and proceed up stream and across to the other side of the river where the start boat will be allocated. No one must cross the start line before the start of the race. 5, 2 and 1 minute warnings will be made before the start of the race and then the final 10 seconds counted down before the start flag will be lowered. Any paddler over the start line in the final 1 minute will not be included in the results. All paddlers will wear a number that must be warn on their shirt/wetsuit.

The Course:

The race/tour winds it’s way up the River Dart and you will pass some very scenic areas. There is no specific course and paddlers can choose their own line up the river.

The Finish:

The race finishes at the slip way outside the totnes rowing club and paddlers should keep going until they here a sound signal.

definately entering the open sup divison
    a few queries
how do we get from the finish back to the start to pick up vehicles – is there transport arranged or do we have to sort for ourselves?

how long in miles is the course

the map is not very clear it just fades when you blow it up.

    thanks in advance

  2. Hi Steve,

    Good questions:

Getting from Start to finish is the responsibility of the paddlers. We’d hope that everyone can work together to run a buddy system with vehicles. Maybe use the SUP forums to get a car share list sorted.

If there is demand we may be able to sort a minibus back to Dartmouth.

The course is approximately 9 miles depending on how direct a line you paddle up the river. It feels a lot shorter due to the flooding tide.

We are trying to find a higher res version of the map. Stay tuned.

    Gill
